Salo IT Solutions, Inc. (SaloITS) has been awarded a six-month contract to develop the next generation of wireless communications protocols for automated flood warning systems. The ALERT-2 Protocol Development project is funded by the Department of Commerce (DOC) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.
The results of this project are expected to include an "ALERT-2 Requirements Specification", which will document the objectives for the new protocols, and an "ALERT-2 Protocol Specification", which will describe the technical details of the new protocols. Both documents will be available
on the project Web site (http://www.alert-2.com/) for public
review and comment. The ALERT-2 Protocol Development project is expected to leverage the modem technology developed by Blue Water Design LLC under an earlier NOAA-funded SBIR contract.
